1. Summary
BibleShep is a Bible app built with your privacy in mind. We do not collect personally identifiable information. There are no user accounts, no email registration, and no behavioral tracking. Your reading progress is saved only on your device.
Simply put: BibleShep does not know who you are. We don't have your data and we don't want it.
2. Data we do not collect
- Name, email address, or any account information
- Geographic location
- Browsing history or in-app behavior
- Financial or payment data
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
The app does not require registration or login to function.
3. Data stored locally on your device
BibleShep saves the following data on your device using the operating system's local storage (AsyncStorage):
- Reading progress: which paths you've completed and where you left off
- App preferences: language and appearance settings
This data never leaves your device. We do not transmit it, sync it to the cloud, or have any access to it. If you uninstall the app, this data is permanently deleted.
4. Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
BibleShep uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a Google service, to send you optional notifications about new reflections and content. This involves:
- Firebase assigns an anonymous device token to your app installation. This token contains no personal information.
- The token is sent to our servers solely to deliver notifications to you. We use it for no other purpose.
- You can revoke notification permission at any time from your device settings.
Firebase is operated by Google LLC. Their privacy policy applies to device token processing: policies.google.com/privacy .
5. App content
All Bible content (texts, reflections, quizzes, devotionals) is stored directly inside the app. No requests are made to external servers to display content. The app works completely offline, except for the push notifications described above.
6. Children's privacy
BibleShep is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
7. Changes to this policy
If we modify this policy, we will update the date shown above and, for material changes, notify you through the app. Continued use of BibleShep after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
